I was surfing the net for all things Madonna because a friend posted about her possibly coming to Manila in July. While going through some forums, I came across this photo and found it very disturbing. Now, I know that she’s this yoga and pilates enthusiast type person, and that she’s really in great shape, but there’s something about this photo that makes me think that having fat is not such a bad thing.
My grandmother, who was thin all her life, struggled to keep her fat on (I wish that was my weight issue.) I remember her complaining about losing weight so vividly. She would tell me that she needed to gain weight to keep gravity from tugging on loose skin. Her sister, on the other hand, went to botox to keep her face immobile. From what I witnessed, both methods worked quite well. The only problem with the botox, for me, is that you can’t inject your entire body. But I have a problem with fat as well, a lot of people seem to see the extra pounds as something really ugly and I am one of those people.
Maybe there’s a good balance between fat and cosmetic surgery, and I just have to find it. Oprah Winfrey is 54 years old, and I don’t know if she’s had her face injected (she has perfect lighting on the set of her show), but her arms don’t look like gravity has taken its toll. Since Madonna is turning 50 this year, I’d have to wait and see what Marcia Cross, 46, and Mariah Carey, 38, will look like at 50 before making a conclusion between fat and cosmetic injecting/surgery.
Performer and songwriter Mariah Carey has set April 15th (April 9th in Japan) as the in-store date for the most eagerly anticipated album of the year, E=MC2. The 11th studio album of her career, E=MC2 is the follow-up to The Emancipation Of Mimi, Mariah’s worldwide 10 million selling #1 album, which generated three Grammy awards (including Best Contemporary R&B Album), 2 #1 singles and countless more industry honors during its 18-month stay on the charts.
The first single from E=MC2 is “Touch My Body,” written and produced by Mariah Carey, C. “Tricky” Stewart, and The-Dream, hit radio stations worldwide on February 12th.
The video for “Touch My Body” was directed by feature filmmaker Brett Ratner, and internet, cable and network premieres for the video will be announced in the weeks ahead.
In addition to C. “Tricky” Stewart and The-Dream, other guest producers joining Mariah on E=MC2 will include Jermaine Dupri, DJ Toomp, Stargate, Will I Am, Bryan Michael Cox, Nate “Danjahandz” Hills and James Poyser. E=MC2 is executive produced by Mariah Carey and Antonio “LA” Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group.
The Emancipation Of Mimi, released April 12, 2005, was an industry phenomenon for the mega-platinum award-winning superstar – Soundscan’s biggest-selling album of the year, bringing total sales of Mariah’s albums, singles and videos to more than 160 million worldwide, making her the most successful female recording artist in history. Mariah is now positioned as the only active recording artist in the 48 years of the Hot 100 (which began in 1958) with the potential to surpass the Beatles’ all-time high of 20 #1 hits.
I stopped following American Idol after season 4. I lost interest and felt like either the contestants had less appeal or were possibly less talented. However, this season, while I was checking out the auditons, I came across David Archuleta. Now, I have the biggest school girl crush on him. I think he is the cutest thing on American Idol since Mario Vasquez.
I just think he’s so adorable. I’m such a fangirl. Here’s a clip of him singing to the American Idol season 1 contestants. He was probably around 10 or 11 years old at the time. He’s 16 now.
